White print of Federal German stamps!
The Federal Republic of Germany has issued several stamps in offset-litho with a strange white screen. I did some inquiries among German stamp collectors and nobody could give me an explanation or rather they denied their existence.
Even the former head of the German State Printing works where most of the German stamps had been printed - mr Hans Zerbel - told me after having been given copies of my stamps [!!!!] that there was NO screen and what I must have seen was a structure of the paper surface!
The Calvin stamp is the only one with a 70 degrees angle! All the other have a 45 degrees angle.
So far my earliest copy of a German stamp with this phenomenon is from 2005!

Hola Rein
Have you tried with UV light? some countries print with phosphorescent ink, this ink is invisible and look like white ink.
Saludos José.

José,
good to see you again here!!!
Yes I realize that but the fluorescence of the German stamps is incorporated in the coating and the coating does react under the UV-lamp - NOT only where the screen can be seen but also on the block margins that have no white screen!
saludos, Rein

Re: White print of Federal German stamps!
Another reaction from the German scene (Georg Buchbinder aka Jurek) suggested to play around with Gamma-corrections etc...
This seems OK!
