José,

you are probably quite right!

The New Zealand collectors mention "coarse paper" in their specialists catalogue Campbell-Paterson. in the 1941-1945 period as a result of war-time measures! The type of paper used for NZ stamps comes from Wiggins Teape!

Rein,
Speaking of papers this morning I went to Casa de Moneda and Nora Matassi, the Museum Director, who remembers you quite well, showed me records Ihat I had not seen before. I´ll be brief: she showed me copies of internal communications where they detail reception of paper Nº 13 which is mine "granulado vertical" (Housing Congress excepting WT & AP and Austrian paper you found). For your information this paper is Dutch, being his manufacturer the firm Berhard Loebel that I imagin is knonw to you. The shipment of first reams were receivet at Buenos Aires port in April, 19th 1939 and boxes opened on August 22nd, 1939. This shipment was part of a large one as above firm won Casa de Moneda tender dated August 19th, 1938.
These papers also reveal that said firm sent a total of 654 rolls of coated paper Nº 27, each one measuring 2000 meters length by 28cm with. 200 rolls were cut into 28 x 84,5 cm to print Roca monument (MT415)
Therefore stamps and souvenir sheets of commemorative issue of the XIº Congreso Postal Universal on coated ("tixado")
paper has been printed on another coated paper, which origin remains unknown...yet. Saludos,
José

José,

this is great news!

Do I understand you well that the type of paper called for quite some time "papel Holandes" really has a Dutch origin????

And that the firm is called GERHARD LOEBER - can you please check the correct spelling of its name!

The Loeber firm is the one that you knew as ALPAMIJ in the 1923 José San Martin context!

Rein:
Yes, "papel holandés" is Dutch paper. Concerning the spelling I´m afraid I can´t improve it because Nora dictated me it from the papers she was reading. If it was misspelled in the typewriter by the typist I don´t know, but Nora told me that that company was a renowned Dutch papermill. So please tell me what is the real spelling for I.ll have to do some writing about this discovery.
By he way, the so called "holandés" paper in the first set of air mail stamps of our country. A1/19 is not Dutch but the German one from Stinnes.
Moreover, now that you know that paper Nº 27 in reels is coated, and Dutch, could you tell whether the mate lustroso is the same paper but uncoated? Saludos,
José

José,

so we are still left with a problem! Establishing the differences and similarities in ALL granulado vertical types of paper in the 1939-1943 period.

We may know who traded the papers but that DOES NOT mean that we know where the papermill was! Gerhard Loeber was a trader!! And so was Hugo Stinnes!

Rein,
So Loeber was not a papermill? However he won the tender that included stamp papers among others for fiscal stamps, colored paers, carboard, etc. But I ask to myself, did he made the dandy roll or was it a third party trhat make that paper for him?
On the other hand Juso (Javier Morillas) found the complete data for the Stinnes shipment, which states the name of the plant and its location in Germany. I´ll propose a trade to him. he gives me that data and I´ll give him the shipments from Loeber. Saludos,
José
