PyR I 10c Rivadavia rojo variedades de plancha

http://www.somestamps.com/domain-argent ... 029-b1.htm
Because Tenorio mentions that the second plate has a type I and a type II, I am not sure which of these three selvages correspond to the second plate.
Borde con tres lineas horizontales, tipo I:
http://www.somestamps.com/domain-argent ... 029-b3.htm
http://www.somestamps.com/domain-argent ... 029-b2.htm

Gracias, Luis, no me habia dado cuenta.

Saludos

Re: serie P y R 1935 a 1951 clasificacion general
Tony,
this remark of Luis coincides with my questions about the 10c Rivadavia red!
According to Tenorio Casal we have 2 groups:
- fotograbados tipograficos [flat plate typography]
- fotograbados estereotipados [reel-fed typography on the 1931 Goebel rotary]
Type I is from the 1st plate of the flat printings; type II is from the 2nd and 3rd plates of the flat printings and.... Type II is also from the reel-fed printings [11 printings altogether!]
Somehow the Argentinean philatelists couldn't make sense out of Tenorio's article so far...
It is about time to have a better look at our Rivadavia's !!!

Re: serie P y R 1935 a 1951 clasificacion general
There is something strange about type I of the red 10c Rivadavia!
According to Tenorio Casal it stems from the first plate for flat-bed printing and descrbied as fotograbado tipografico. However, it has many characteristics of the estereotipado we see in the 1c, 5c and 10c castaño! Whereas the latter show an ink flow either upwards or downwards - which is OK as the direction of paper is vertical to comply with the reel-fed printing; the type I has an ink flow towards the left! So it can not been printed on a reel-fed press, BUT it can have been printed on a sheet-fed cylinder press!!!
Stereotpying is just a cheap, quick way of making printing forms - either flat plates or thin plates that can be curved around a cylinder!

Type II in stereotyping:
lots of extras printed outside the design itself; ink at the bottom either flowing upwards or downwards!

Type I in stereotyping as well?:
Extra thick tooth at the right:

Re: serie P y R 1935 a 1951 clasificacion general

Re: serie P y R 1935 a 1951 clasificacion general
Luis,
according to Tenorio Casal all the 5c Moreno in typography had been stereotyped and printed on the reel-fed Goebel press.... But as to me the fact that stereotyping had been used and the type of press used are 2 different things and it looks that Tenorio was tying them up unncessarily!
Looking at the borders should tell us which type of machine/press had been used; measuring the stamp design and looking for stereotyping characteristics [the extra printed rubbish outside the design; the alternate repitition of dots, etc.] is a good step forwards!

As to the sizes of the 10c Rividavia type II:
Note the different heights!
