Indonesia - terra incognita since 1990??

Since the early 1990-ies a lot has changed in the way Indonesian postage stamps have been manufactured!
The printing house Pertjetakan Kebajoran - officially Perum PerUri (Perum Percetakan Uang Republik Indonesia) - probably traded the old Chambon photogravure reel-fed press [1955] in for modern equipment.
Two features were introduced:
- the use of electro-mechanical engraving [EME] for photogravure,
- the use of offset-litho often in combination with photogravure.
Apart from this, changes in the type of paper i.e. introducing extra security measurements like yellow threads!
All these new features can be found in different versions of the SAME postage stamps!
So far, I haven't seen any reference about it in European philatelic publications. Maybe the Indonesian philatelic press did write about - I had no access to it apart from the obstacle of my not understanding Bahasa Indonesia - but I very much doubt it ....
