Perforation - no sense of direction!
Pettigiani in his Manual of the P&R I series devotes a small paragraph on the perforation of this set! On page 36 we read "Los dentados no ofrecen mayores variantes en esta serie".
So, perforation is not important for the collectors of the P&R I series! Not even the difference in perforation between the sheet-fed typographed stamps and the reel-fed typographed stamps was properly explained!
The standard long rectangular size [as used for the 25c and higher in the P&R I] got changed around 1955.
The number of teeth horizontal/vertical changed from 17/25 to 18/25 (from 26.0x37.5mm or 37.5x26.0mm to 26.5x37.5mm or 37.5x26.5mm).
The old size had the perforator running with a long base, the new one with a short base! But is this right??? The new size was not applied to the P&R I series but how about the old size???
While studying the 1 Peso Antartida I found out that around 1955 a change was made from base 25/17 to base 17/25. In other words extra small teeth [or extra thick teeth] were once found at the right side [both top and bottom] with the 25 base and now with the extra small/thick teeth at the top with the 17 base! Both types of perforation for the Zárate rayado and only the 17 base sofar the Zárate granulado!
Going back in time it seems that the base 17 perforator had got introduced a lot earlier and that many stamps of the P&R I series have got more than one type of perforaton!

Re: Perforation - no sense of direction!
The 20c Toro [Ganaderia] has both B17 (base of the perforator having 17 teeth] and B25, depending on the type of paper!
Not of all my types of paper I had enough evident material to tell whether we have B17 or B25 at hand!
Of the Symmetrical Orthogonal [Stinnes aka Holandés or 1E4 or MI3] just a single copy:

So far for the 20c Toro!
