There are only 3 values that have a non-transposed watermark! This means a different type of paper that deserves a seperate column! The 3: 10c Rivadavia, 25c labrador and 30c Lanas!
Rein: I don`t agree with this. Is not a different type of paper. Is the same paper used in different position. The variety does not occurs in the paper´s MANUFACTURE but in the USE of it.

Biti,
you may be right but it is not very likely! Let 's get the terms a bit straight:
- orientation is the relation between the direction of paper and the line of AЯ - so we have parallel and orthogonal
- position is the relation between the direction of paper and the position of the stamp design - so we have 4 cardinal directions of design to which the base of AЯ is pointing to (like North, East, South, West or Left, Up, Right, Down). We may think North-South or East-West as an "orientation" rather....
- transposition in the case of paper is a matter of where the 2 sides of the paper are: the felt side or the wire side. The felt side is where the watermark got applied to from the dandy-roll (bailarin) - you can often see it even! The wire side is where the paper pulp was pressed against the wire of the sieve. It usually shows an impression of that sieve.
The felt side of the paper was normally used to be printed, the wire side got the gum. In the case of transposed paper the felt side got gum applied, the wire side got printed. This is what happened to the 3 stamps (40c, 1p, 2p) I displayed here. You can clearly see the indents of the wire from the front!
Whether the paper got tranposed must have been a decision of the paper manufacturers at Zarate as practically all national paper uptil 1971 was transposed! The "few" stamps that have another type of paper might have been a mistake made at Zarate or before applying gum in the Casa de Moneda. Or did Zarate already do the gumming?
Whatever it may be, the non-transposed watermark was not simply another way of using paper!!!!

Biti,
