The 1ct1E1

This stamp is surprisingly rare. It was used mostly in mid to late 1937.

Imagen

A dated specimen showing early use.

Here are two back scans showing the watermark (1E1).

This is the earliest cover I have. It is postmarked May of 1937.

1c1E1 plating, left pane, MH varieties

I find only a small number of overprint varieties on this left side pane of 100. The complete plate has 10 rows and 20 columns (200 stamps).

1c1E1 plating, left pane, rows 1 and 6

This plating is of the left pane of the 1c plate that was used beginning October 1, 1935. The complete pane has 20 columns and 10 rows (200 stamps). This plate was composed in die blocks of 5 by 5 in a grid of two vertical die squares by four horizontal die squares. If you add 100 to the plate positions in the top half of this half sheet, you should find a similar position in the lower half of this left hand pane.

Tony,

are we referring to the offset-litho version or the typography? here??

According ot Pettigiani the typography version is known since November 1936!! So this must be the typography one :)

Yes, typography for the 1ct1E discussion. I am mixing both in the same post. The plating is for the litho version.

Tony,

I think the 't' is too inconspicuous for me! I read it as "ct" for "centavos"!

Maybe a "T" would be better!

Great job Tony!

Root block of 5x5 will result in leaps of 5 [both horizontal and vertical] to have the same characteristics again.

Stamp 3 and 8 and 13 and 18! But also 103 and 108 and 113 and 118!

All your stamps have type I - i.e. no break in the lower right corner of the stamp:
The 1c D.F. Sarmiento has 2 types when you look at the right bottom corner.

Type I [is it really the oldest one??] has NO break, type II has a tiny break. A real First Day Cover might give evidence:

Imagen

The root block here is 5x5 what we can tell by the characteristics in blue and green!

Same row but 5 columns to the right; 6th column, 8th row:

Compare your position 41 with my position 141!!!!

Tony,

all your stamps are type I - no break in the right lower corner frame!

Yet it seems that both your pane with type I and my pane with type II have the SAME root block:

Type II with the break in the frame seems to be in first place chronologically when it goes to the stamps on Stinnes paper and a horizontal direction of paper! From late 1939 onwards! This must be around the time the 1939 Housing Congress was printed on German [Stinnes] paper:
