Re: Print-spoiling paper in the 1975-1980 period
The chipwood paper was used mainly for the small-sized definitives in the period October 1975 - April 1976! The paper is rather thin - 80-90μ as against 100-110μ for the later papers. It is not so stiff either...
Only a few larger sized stamps were printed on this paper:
30c Congreso of 15.10.1975
50c Lujan of 30.10.1975
1p Bariloche of 01.10.1971 [dates of December 1975-March 1976]
5P Deer of 20.09.1974 [the ones with ink flowing to the left - dates of March 1976! The stamps with ink flowing to the right must have been an earlier printing!]
The 1p Bariloche was in use for more than 5 years! The one with the chipwood paper was printed on the reel-fed Goebel again!!!
to be continued ...

Subject: Que le pasó a Brown?

The Casa de Moneda preferred to use terribly bad quality paper during a few years - they liked to experiment a bit is a more polite way of saying it - and that is how they produced a lot of stamps like this 15p G. BrownRosarino_49 » 09 Sep 2012 22:29 escribió:

Re: Print-spoiling paper in the 1975-1980 period
The base paper for the matt coated one turns out to have at least two paper wire structures!

but the d-asymmetrical turned up for offset-litho as well:
